Police Pursuit Ends In Crash On I-35W Ramp In Downtown Minneapolis

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A police pursuit that ended in a crash snarled traffic on I-35W during Monday's evening commute.

Police say troopers were attempting to stop a driver on the highway near County Road D but the driver fled, heading south. The chase ended in downtown Minneapolis as the suspect attempted to merge onto I-94 westbound but crashed into a guard rail on the ramp.

Lt. Tiffani Schweigart of the Minnesota State Patrol says the suspect suffered minor injuries and was transported to Hennepin County Medical Center.

Schweigart says the suspect didn't hit any other vehicles during the pursuit, but footage from nearby traffic cameras showed several drivers trapped on the ramp behind the crash.
