MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- The judge hearing the Adrian Peterson child abuse case in Texas has declined to recuse himself after a motion was filed by prosecutors.
Judge Kelly Case had called attorneys on both sides of the case "media whores," but later recanted on the comment.
"I apologize to both of you," said Judge Case to both attorneys. "That's not how I feel about any of you. I think you're doing a great job."
Now the motion related to the recusal is scheduled for Wednesday at 10 a.m. at the Montgomery County Courthouse in Conroe, Texas. After that, it will be decided whether Peterson should be arrested for allegedly smoking "a little weed," which would be a violation of his bond.
Montgomery County Prosecutor Brett Ligon filed a two page motion to have Peterson's bond revoked and the suspended Vikings running back arrested.
Peterson is tentatively scheduled for a December trial date. He is accused of committing child abuse against his then 4-year-old son after he admitted to striking the child with a switch.
