North Mankato Looks To Collect Unpaid Bills

NORTH MANKATO, Minn. (AP) — City officials in North Mankato are gearing up to collect nearly $15,500 in unpaid utility bills.

The Mankato Free Press reports the city has identified 54 accounts that are past due on their bills. Most of the bills are for a few hundred dollars although a few are for more than $1,000.

City officials say they've sent letters to the property addresses and the property owners notifying them of the balances.

The city council is set to consider certifying the overdue bills to the county auditor as assessments on property tax bills along with a 7 percent charge during a meeting Monday.
