Movie Blog: 'Pirates' Series Showing Its Age
I'm sure every other snarky reviewer out there will point out that the latest Pirates of the Caribbean movie, On Stranger Tides, is super meta. In it, Johnny Depp's Capt. Jack Sparrow and a bunch of other stalwart sea salts race to find the Fountain of Youth, and the movie series itself is in dire need of a dose of liquid replenishment.
While some of the movie's set-pieces are imaginative as ever, including a nighttime siege by a school of vampire mermaids, overall the series seems as haggard and creaky as, well, Keith Richards.
