MN Brew Gets Called America's Best Cheap Beer

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A Minnesota-brewed beer was just named America's best cheap beer. Grain Belt Premium just received that honor from the website Deadspin.

One of the site's columnists ranked 36 beers from best to worst, comparing such brands as Natural Ice, Bud Light and Pabst Blue Ribbon.

Of all the beers compared, columnist Will Gordon said that Grain Belt Premium was the best of all, praising its "smooth, creamy and dreamy" flavor.

Gordon went on to say, with all our state has to offer, it's surprising we haven't seceded to form our own "naked blond utopia."

Grain Belt is brewed by the August Schell Brewing Company in New Ulm.

Grain Belt Premium ranked just above Narragansett and Coors, with Utica Club and PBR rounding out the top 5.
