Missing Woman's Husband Arrested
ST. PAUL, Minn. (WCCO) –- Days after her vehicle was discovered at the Mall of America, a missing St. Paul woman's husband has been taken into custody.
Kira Trevino, 30, has not been heard from since Thursday night. She works as a manager at Delia's at the Bloomington mall.
On Tuesday, Trevino's 39-year-old husband, Jeffery Trevino, was arrested for probable cause murder. He is currently being held at the Ramsey County Jail.
Jeffery Trevino was the one who initially reported Kira Trevino missing, according to St. Paul police.
Note: Police still consider Kira Trevino a missing person, despite booking her husband for homicide.
On Monday night, the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA) searched the house Kira Trevino shares with her husband and a roommate on the 500 block of Iowa Avenue East. Investigators said they found evidence at the house that a crime had been committed.
WCCO-TV tried to talk with Kira Trevino's husband Monday night, but he declined.
The BCA returned to investigate the house Tuesday night in order to do work that could not be done during the day.
Kira Trevino's family was told of Jeffery Trevino's arrest at the St. Paul Police station. Her father did not want to talk, but her mother, Marcie Steger, spoke earlier in the week.
"I actually just saw him, Jeff, Wednesday evening at my house in Wausau," she said. "As far as we know, he was the last person to see her."
At the moment, the family is asking for time to process what has happened.
The roommate who lives with the Trevinos is being cooperative, authorities said.
Earlier this week, Mall of America security noticed Kira Trevino's car in a parking ramp on the west side of the mall. Authorities canvassed the car and said there was "evidence that concerned investigators."
Authorities reiterated Tuesday they were "not going to elaborate...on the nature of that evidence."
Kira Trevino is originally from Wisconsin. She graduated from D.C. Everest High School in the Wausau area.
More than 2,000 people signed up for updates on a Facebook page dedicated to finding her. However, the Facebook page was taken down Tuesday afternoon after many people posted negative comments about Jeffrey Trevino.
The investigation remains open, and police ask anyone with information to contact them at 651-266-5650.
