Quiet Monday in the Twin Cities; storms set to return Tuesday

Monday will be quiet and comfortable in the Twin Cities with partly sunny skies and highs in the low 80s.

A few showers or storms could arrive Monday night, mainly across western and northern Minnesota, but most areas stay dry.

Storm chances increase Tuesday, especially during the afternoon and evening as a cold front moves through. The best chance for storms will be across eastern Minnesota into western Wisconsin.

There is a marginal risk, 1 on a scale of 5, for severe storms Tuesday, with a few strong storms possible. Limited moisture and shear should keep the overall severe threat low.

Cooler air returns Wednesday, followed by mostly quiet weather Thursday and Friday with temperatures near normal for the start of the Minnesota State Fair.
