Burnsville Man Sentenced To 19 Years For Stabbing Ex-Girlfriend

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- The Burnsville man convicted of trying to stab his ex-girlfriend to death last summer was sentenced Friday to 19 years in prison.

Jason Alexander Lott, 38, stabbed the woman on June 16, 2015, and then tried to stab her 14-year-old daughter, according to the Dakota County Attorney's Office.

The criminal complaint said the woman had asked Lott to move out of her apartment three days earlier. He returned the next day and stole her keys, phone and parking pass.

He then snuck into the apartment on June 16 and stabbed the woman multiple times. The victim was able to prevent Lott from stabbing her daughter before the knife broke.

Lott fled to Indiana, where he was captured in January after a brief standoff.

He was given credit for already serving 275 days in prison.
