Lawyers Hammer Out Final Details Ahead Of Mohamed Noor Trial

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Lawyers finalized details on Friday in the case against a former Minneapolis police officer charged with murder.

Mohamed Noor is set to go on trial on Monday. He has pleaded not guilty to murder and manslaughter charges.

Noor is accused of shooting and killing Justine Ruszczyk Damond while responding to a call of a possible assault in 2017.

Noor has pleaded not guilty.

The pretrial hearing started at 9 a.m. Noor was present at the start of the hearing.

Among the topics covered in the hearing, presided over by Judge Kathryn Quaintance, included the level of public interest in the case. Quaintance said she's heard from people daily about what they believe happened in the case. Because of that level of interest, jurors will not be identified to the public by name.

The court will not be sequestering the jury in the case, although Quaintance said things could change.

The bulk of the time spent in Friday morning's hearing involved the prosecution and defense teams bringing forth their experts they intend on having take the stand during the trial.

They were also set to talk about any objections to evidence.

Earlier this month, the judge decided Noor's past police work, and his refusal to talk to investigators could not be used as evidence against him.
