Threat prompts lockdown and evacuation at Lakeville South High School, no injuries reported

Officials south of the Twin Cities say a threat resulted in a lockdown at Lakeville South High School on Tuesday. 

According to police, an anonymous threat was made involving the school and the public was advised to avoid the area while the investigation took place.

A witness told WCCO that there was a large police presence and students are being escorted out of the building. 

In an update, the school district says all students have been safely transported to a nearby church and issued instructions for parents on its Facebook page. 

"Nobody was harmed and there were no known acts of violence," the district said. "We are currently working to safely reunify parents/guardians with their children."

The incident is being investigated. 

Last year, a boy was arrested for online threats of violence toward the school and McGuire Middle School.
