Jordan Candy Store's Sign Causes Social Media Uproar
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A popular Minnesota candy store took some heat for putting up a sign that some thought was offensive towards Black Lives Matter.
Minnesota's Largest Candy Store, located near Jordan on Highway 169, put up a sign that read, "Join the Movement." Below it read, "#caramelapplesmatter."
The store took heat on its Facebook page with some people accusing them of being distasteful and racist.
But workers say that was never their intent, and they never meant to offend anyone.
"If any offense was taken, and clearly there was, you know, we want to get beyond that and we apologize for it," owner Robert Wagner said. "I could stand here and make all kinds of excuses, but at the end of the day it was a mistake."
Wagner says the sign was up for about 40 hours, and was then removed.
Members of Black Lives Matter say they have no comment.
