3 Injured In Wrong-Way Crash On I-94

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Three people were injured when a wrong-way driver crashed into another car on Interstate 94 near White Bear Avenue early Monday morning.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol, shortly before 3 a.m. a Dodge Caravan, driven by 43-year-old Sudi Abdi Nur of Woodbury, was traveling east on I-94. When he drove past Highway 61, he was struck head-on by a 23-year-old St. Paul man in a Mercury Cougar.

The State Patrol later identified him as Elias Flores Tulio.

Both drivers were taken to Regions Hospital with serious injuries. The passenger of the Dodge Caravan, a 16-year-old boy, was also hospitalized with serious injuries.

Investigators say alcohol is suspected.

Eastbound I-94 was closed for a couple hours Monday morning while crews worked to clear the crash.

It is now reopened.
