Girl's Night Out To Support Breast Cancer Research

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Calling all ladies! There's an opportunity to have fun and help out a great cause Thursday night.

It's Girl's Night Out at The Shoppes At Arbor Lakes.

There's painting fun for the whole family. Color Me Mine is known for letting people turn white pieces of pottery into fun pieces of custom art.

On Thursday, owner Heather Kamin is donating the stores proceeds to Hope Chest, a nonprofit that helps people effected by breast cancer.

She got invoved in Girl's Night Out for two very personal reasons.

"My aunt and my grandma passed away from breast cancer," she said.

Breast cancer has effected nearly everyone in one way or another. And according to the CDC, breast cancer is fatal for about 17 percent (16.67 percent) of the women diagnosed.

That's why Shoppes at Arbor Lakes is hosting Girl's Night Out.

"It gets everybody together," she said. "People are going to be survivors coming in and sharing their stories and they can help those other people in the community that are going through that difficult time."

The fourth annual event is set up to entertain.

There will be food and music. Shops are also offering a variety of pink items to support the cause. And there's even a pink martini.

"Girls can put on their pink and come on out," Kamin said. "They get a great goodie bag it's a very exciting and successful event."

This is the fourth year for Girl's Night Out. This is a big fundraiser for Hope Chest for Breast Cancer and the money raised tonight will help those impacted here in the Twin Cities.

The cost is $10 a person, which covers the live music, appetizers and also a goodie bag.
