Firefighter Recovering Following Eagan House Fire

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- An Eagan firefighter was injured during an overnight fire.

The fire started at a home on the 4300 block of Woodgate Lane just after 10 p.m. Saturday. When first responders arrived to the scene, flames were shooting from the front of the single-family home.

According to the Eagan Fire Department, the flames were so hot it melted the plastic trim on the first fire engine that arrived.

The driver of the rig was treated for minor burns at the scene.

The flames also melted the siding on two nearby homes.

Five fire stations responded to the call, bringing about 30 firefighters to battle the flames.

The fire marshal is investigating the cause. It's believed the fire ignited in the garage.

No one else was hurt. The people inside the house were able to get out before firefighters arrived.
