Cold Forces Parade Cancellations In Minnesota
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Some cities in Minnesota are canceling weekend parades because of the bitterly cold weather.
St. Cloud's Winter Nights and Lights Parade and Santa Fun Run have been canceled because of the dangerously cold temperatures forecast for Saturday.
But the St. Cloud times reports the Christmas Market will take place Saturday afternoon in downtown St. Cloud.
Mayor Dave Kleis says the event will take place in a heated tent.
In northeastern Minnesota, the Duluth News Tribune reports Santa's Home for the Holidays parade, scheduled for Saturday in Cloquet, has been canceled.
Temperatures early Friday bottomed out at 24 below zero in Longville and 20 below in Staples.
Highs Saturday are forecast to range from 5 to 10 below in northern Minnesota to around 5 above in the far southeast.
