By Bruce Hagevik, NewsRadio 830 WCCO

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- November is National Adoption Month and Congress recently approved a new law allowing American parents to adopt older siblings of younger children.

President Obama is expected to sign the bill, according to co-author U.S. Sen. Amy Klobuchar. The new law will allow the adoption of siblings between the ages of 16 and 18. Previously that was not legal.

"This will allow these kids to come over and be with families who have been anxiously awaiting their adoption," said Sen. Klobuchar.

Up to now, older siblings could not come to the United States with their younger siblings who were being adopted.
