14-year-old boy dies in Burnsville shooting
A 14-year-old boy was shot and killed at an apartment complex in Burnsville, Minnesota, Monday evening.
City officials said police were called to the Glen Apartments at 13000 Harriet Avenue South shortly after 10:30 p.m. on reports of a shooting.
The boy was in the lobby of the apartment building and was taken to the hospital, where he died of his injuries, officials say.
The shooting prompted a shelter-in-place order, which has since been lifted.
Police are investigating the shooting. City officials say there is no threat to the public.
Family members identify the boy as Charles Moore.
"He was forced to grow up fast and unfortunately became a product of his environment," Moore's family said in a statement to WCCO. "He was smart, laid back, advanced and a true hustler for a 14 year old. He loved his family a lot, would do anything for them. He would've had a bright future, just needed a little more time. He's forever going to be loved and missed."
As of Wednesday night, police haven't disclosed whether any arrests have been made.
