BEMIDJI, Minn. (AP) — Police say a Bemidji man has been arrested in the death of a 2-year-old girl.

Authorities say officers responded to a report of a child not breathing at a home in Bemidji on Sunday about noon. Police say first responders found the toddler had already died by the time they arrived.

Investigators say they executed a search warrant and the 38-year-old man was arrested and taken to the Beltrami County Jail on possible charges of second-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter.

An autopsy on the child is expected to be done at the Ramsey County Medical Examiner's Office.
