Minnesota BCA investigating "use of force" incident in Virginia, Minnesota

The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is investigating a use-of-force incident in Virginia, Minnesota, after what appears to have been an officer shooting Friday morning.

The BCA said multiple crime scene personnel responded to the scene and that more information will be released after the preliminary investigation is complete.

An official with knowledge of the situation told Northern News Now that an officer responded to reports of a man walking on a sidewalk and waving a gun. At least one shot was fired during the encounter, the official said.

No officers were injured, according to the official. The condition of the suspect was not immediately known.

The incident occurred in the area of 2nd Avenue South. The investigation remains ongoing.
