Bakk Talks Sales Tax Rebate For Out-Of-State MOA Shoppers
ST. PAUL, Minn. (WCCO) -- Gov. Mark Dayton's plan to extend the state sales tax to clothing has drawn strong opposition from the Mall of America, which attracts out-of-state visitors with the promise of tax-free purchases.
But Senate Majority leader Tom Bakk says there may be a solution.
"Is there some way where we have travelers that come in from out of state to give them some kind of rebate on the sales tax that they pay? We may have to explore that with the mall," said Bakk in an interview with WCCO Radio's Dave Lee.
Dayton's plan calls for a sales tax on clothing purchases over $100.
