ATF Offering $10,000 Reward In 2 Minneapolis Murders

ST. PAUL, Minn. (WCCO) – The St. Paul Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms said Friday it's offering rewards of up to $10,000 each to find the people responsible for the murders of two children in Minneapolis in the last six months.

Terrell Mayes Jr., 3, was shot and killed on Dec. 26, 2011 at his home on the 2400 block of Colfax Avenue N. after a stray bullet entered the home. Police are investigating leads in the case but have not made any arrests.

On Tuesday, Nizzel George, 5, was shot and killed by a stray bullet while sleeping on the couch at his north Minneapolis home on the 4500 block of Bryant Avenue North. Minneapolis Police are investigating several leads on the murder and believe the shooting could be part of a feud with a nearby house.

No arrests have been made in either case. The ATF said it will offer up to $10,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the responsible party in either case.

A memorial service for George will be held at his residence Saturday afternoon. His funeral is next week.

Anyone with information about either murder is asked to call the Homicide Unit of the Minneapolis Police Department at (612) 673-2941 or (612) 692-8477.
