$71K Mighty Ducks Grant Awarded To Albert Lea City Arena
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- The Albert Lea City Arena will be improving its indoor air quality thanks to a sizable grant it received.
On Friday, Albert Lea officials announced the arena was recently awarded a $71,000 James Metzen Mighty Ducks grant. Those funds will be used to install a new air conditioning system, an air exchanger and a carbon monoxide detector that lets in fresh air automatically.
"Receiving this grant gives us the opportunity to expand the scope of our air conditioning project to include indoor air quality to make it a safer, cleaner atmosphere for our patrons," Bob Furland, Parks and Recreation Interim Director, said. "We are grateful to the Mighty Ducks program for their support."
The Mighty Ducks Grant Program was founded in 1998 to support building and improving ice facilities throughout Minnesota. In 2014, it was revived to help small cities replace refrigeration systems because of the discontinuation of R-22 coolant and improve indoor air quality.
