4 Things To Do Today From Saturday, June 11, 2016
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Summer has finally arrived with a couple of 90 degree days. Brave the heat and head outside with these four events that Natalie Nyhus and Mike Augustyniak covered on WCCO Saturday Morning!
1. This weekend, professionals, amateurs and art enthusiasts will take part in the Chalkfest. The event in Maple Grove features amazing works of art made from -- you guessed it -- chalk. It's free Saturday and Sunday on Main Street and at the Shoppes at Arbor Lakes.
2. It's the annual Take-A-Kid-Fishing Weekend in Minnesota. Anyone 16 and older who takes a child 15 and under can fish without a license. This is a chance for inexperienced and beginner anglers to get a little practice. There are a variety of opportunities throughout the state.
3. Saturday night the Minnesota United teams up with the local non-profit Still Kickin for a night of fitness and soccer. First 100 participants get a complimentary gift bag and yoga mat. Then stick around to see the United take on Miami. Funds raised through special apparel and ticket sales help support Still Kickin.
4. Northern Spark is a free art festival from dusk Saturday until dawn Sunday. Since 2011, nearly 500 artists projects have been made at 117 venues in the city. This year's theme is "Climate Chaos - Climate Rising." The event kicks off at 9 p.m. Saturday at the Convention Center before moving to Minneapolis' Mill District for the night.
