The hit of this year's fair has been a long time in the making, according to Carol and Fred Helmer. "We've been in the concession business for over 30 years and it's always been our dream to get into the Minnesota State Fair," Carol said. It took the Helmers 14 years of applying before finally getting admitted into the fair in 2007. So to see their olives turn into such a hit meant the world.

First Student, which runs 20 percent of all school buses in the state, said it needs 100 drivers as soon as possible. But before parents panic, First Student said do not worry. The company said children will get to school on time and buses won't be overcrowded.
Some young Minnesota drivers are learning about stalled traffic before they even get their drivers licenses.
Minnesota beef producers vote in February on whether to double the state checkoff to $2 for every head sold to help elevate the image of beef. The state's beef checkoff has been $1 a head for 28 years.
