Woman Stuffed In Car Trunk By Alleged Robber Escapes
NORTH MIAMI BEACH (CBSMiami) – A woman who was robbed at gunpoint and tossed in the trunk of her car managed to escape and identify the gunman.
According to the North Miami Beach Police, Kimberly Roberts, an employee of the Union Institute in the 168-hundred block of NE 2nd Avenue, went to her car in the University's parking lot around 6pm on Wednesday, October 30th.
As she opened the trunk to search for some personal belongings, she told police that a man wearing a paintball mask approached her, pointed a handgun at her head and demanded money, credit cards, and car keys.
The alleged robber then forced Roberts into the trunk of her car but she managed to escape using the emergency trunk release. Police said that when Roberts got out of the trunk, the man had removed his mask and she saw his face. When Roberts told the gunman he could be seen by other employees in the building, he ordered her to run. She ran back inside and called 911.
When police arrived they found a backpack containing a stolen .40 caliber handgun. The backpack belonged to a Union Institute student, whose brother, was identified in a lineup by Roberts, as the gunman.
When police went to his nearby home, the teen refused to come out and the Special Response Team was called. Eventually, the alleged gunman surrendered.

- Armed Robbery with a Firearm
- Armed Burglary with a Battery
- False Imprisonment with a Weapon
