Voters Elect Two Miami-Dade School Board Members
MIAMI (CBS4) - Voters elected two new faces to represent them on Miami-Dade's School Board.
Former state Rep. Dorothy Bendross-Mindingall, 68, replaces outgoing Miami-Dade School Board Chair Solomon Stinson.
Bendross-Mindingall is a former principal who vowed to protect "the sanctity of the classroom," CBS4 news partner The Miami Herald reported.
She was running against Ronda Vangates, 40, who works as a diversity compliance director for the district. Both were running for the District 2 seat.
In District 7, voters overwhelmingly elected political consultant 30-year-old Carlos Curbelo who was challenging a former Miami-Dade School Board assistant 45-year-old Libby Perez.
Both were vying for the seat that belonged to Ana Rivas Logan who left to run for a state House seat.
