Sports Agenda For Tuesday (2/8/11)
Big Story:
No real major story right now, but a couple of things that have piqued my interest. First, my thoughts on the Super Bowl. If you recall, I said on Facebook Friday that I was taking the Packers with the spread of -2.5. Ka-Ching! Too bad I didn't actually bet on it. Nevertheless, great game by the Packers and the Steelers….much better than the halftime show or the national anthem.
Second, the Cleveland Cavaliers are now the worst team in the history of the NBA….well, maybe not the worst ever, but they now own the all-time record for consecutive losses in NBA history. They dropped their 25th straight last night. So tell me again Cleveland fans, why exactly would LeBron want to stay around on a team like that?
Heat: vs. Indiana Pacers (7:30 p.m. on Sun Sports)
Speaking of LeBron and company, the Heat welcome in the Indiana Pacers into the AAA tonight. The last time the Heat played the Pacers, the Heat were in disarray and lost to the lowly Pacers. Fast forward to now, and LeBron and D-Wade are leading the league in scoring and the Heat are still on fire. Something tells me the Heat may be out for blood in this game.
Dolphins:
Off-Season….but it's in flux until the new CBA is reached. Based on the latest comments coming from the league and the players, a lockout is coming to America's most popular sport. If it lasts into the regular season, it could get really, REALLY, ugly for the NFL.
Panthers: vs. St. Louis Blues (7:30 p.m. on Fox Sports Florida)
The Panthers, who remain dead last in the Southeast Division, welcome in the St. Louis Blues who coincidentally reside in last place in the Central Division of the Western Conference.
The Panthers are fresh off a victory over the New Jersey Devils last Friday and play their next five games at home. But, the Panthers are now in eleventh place in the Eastern Conference, significantly out of the playoff race.
The Panthers goalies are allowing at least 2.46 goals per game and with an offense that is stagnant many times, the team can ill afford to give up any more goals than they can. Combined, goalies Clemmensen and Vokoun are one game over .500.
Marlins:
T-Minus 9 days until pitchers and catchers report for spring training.
