Sports Agenda For Tuesday (10/4/11)

Big Story:
Day 2 of Sparano Watch is in full swing as the Dolphins look to pick up the pieces from a horrendous 0-4 start. Plus, the NBA season is….no closer to happening than it was in July. And why South Florida sports fans should just give up and head to the beach.
Let's hit the agenda like the Dolphins hit the floor.

Dolphins/Sparano Watch:
There was no movement on Sparano watch on Monday, which was the biggest goof the Dolphins have made so far this season.
Look, I'm not a fan of firing a coach who has been hamstrung by the most incompetent general manager in the NFL.
But at this point, Ross should do it instead of leaving the man hanging from week to week.
Ross gave Sparano the dreaded vote of confidence Monday which is usually the last thing before someone gets fired.
Ross said that he wants to keep the Fins history of not firing a coach mid-season.
And therein lies part of the problem with this franchise.
The Dolphins can't stop holding onto things of the past and they continue to not learn from them and keep making the same mistakes over and over again.
As I said, I think Sparano is a good guy and a good coach. He's been cut off at the knees by an idiot general manager and an ever bigger idiot of a former team vice-president in Bill Parcells.
If you look at the most successful franchises, they all evolve with the times.
The Patriots used to be smash-mouth football, but evolved with the emergence of Tom Brady.
Same thing with the Packers, Steelers, and other teams.
But the Dolphins continue to hold onto the ideas of Dave Wannstedt and other poor coaches.
The Fins need an offensive overhaul starting with the quarterback, whatever it takes to get a quarterback of the future next NFL Draft, the Fins should do it.
In the interim, Ross should let Sparano go so he can begin planning his next move.
It's almost inhumane to subject him and his family to the constant abuse that will be coming his way if the Fins can't win.
We're going to see what kind of boss Ross is.
If he keeps Jeff Ireland around, I think the fans should revolt and refuse to renew season tickets across the board until he is fired.
Only when the fans completely stop going to games will something change.
In the meantime, it's business as usual for the Dolphins….meaning it's time to "SUCK FOR LUCK!!!"

NBA Update:
Well, if you were hoping to see the Heat play this year, you're probably going to be out of luck.
The NBA and the Player's Union will meet again today in New York for another grand bargaining session.
At the same time, agents who will lose money if the basketball related income share for the players is dropped to insure a season, are trying to get the players to decertify the union and take it to court….where they will lose….ask the NFL Players Association about it.
Even the NFLPA president, DeMaurice Smith, told the NBA to tread carefully before heading to court which will be an uphill battle.
That serves as the backdrop for the current negotiations on Tuesday in New York.
Honestly, if the players came down to a 50/50 split on BRI and the owners relaxed a little on salary cap rules and such, the deal could be signed today.
The players will come down eventually to keep their big paychecks coming in.
The biggest losers in this, other than the greed of the owners, is the people who will lose their jobs at the arenas and in front offices.
Neither side gives a damn about them, it's all about how much can I get for me, me, me.
Sadly, that's a perfect illustration with the problems in America's economy today.
Uncontrolled greed of those at the top is costing valuable jobs for those at the bottom.

South Florida Sports:
How bad is it in South Florida sports?
The Hurricanes are 2-2; the Dolphins are 0-4; the Marlins finished dead last in the NL East; and the Panthers were the worst team in hockey last year.
FIU is now 3-2; FAU is 0-4 on the season.
And the Heat may not play at all this winter.
Is there anyone worth cheering for down here?
Well, you can cheer for the UM Women's basketball team which has been ranked as high as fourth in preseason polls.
Yup, that's right South Florida, your best prospects for a winner this fall/winter is a women's basketball team.
WOW….Just….WOW
