Rock-Throwing, Santa-Hat Hoodlum Pleads Not Guilty
FORT LAUDERDALE (CBSMiami) – A Santa-hat wearing, belligerent bus passenger who hurled a rock at a county bus made an appearance in court Friday.
Demetrius Vidale, 19, plead not guilty and said after his arraignment that he made a mistake and wants to make amends.
Vidale was arrested in early December and charged with one count each of throwing a deadly missile into an occupied bus and criminal mischief, after he was turned in to authorities by his mother.
According to the Broward Sheriff's office, Vidale and another passenger were picked up by a Broward County transit bus on November 18th in Lauderhill. Both were yelling the word "bitch" on the bus over and over again.
When the driver asked them to stop, they refused and continued with their rude remarks.
The driver eventually stopped and ordered them off the bus. That's when Vidale walked to the front of the bus and verbally confronted the driver, said investigators.
Once off the bus, Vidale picked up a rock and hurled it toward the bus. It hit the front passenger-side windshield which left a large crack in the window and the entire incident was captured on surveillance video.
After the video aired on the news, Vidale's mother turned him in.
