Police Looking For More Victims Of Unlicensed Miami Dentist

MIAMI (CBS4) - It's been said you can't tell a book by its cover and Miami you apparently can't tell a dentist by the dental lab he works in.

Adilenia Martinez, 26, learned that the hard way after being 'treated' by 76-year old Angel Nolasco.

Martinez said she met Nolasco when her husband took her to the lab in the 25-hundred block of NW 7th Street. After telling him of her problem, Nolasco reportedly showed her to a "fully operational dentist office" in the back of the lab. He then proceeded to pull her tooth and gave her some prescription strength medication to take home with her to easy the pain. Martinez said she felt weak, sick and her mouth was bleeding uncontrollably.

When her husband Josue demanded a receipt, Nolasco refused to give him one. He kept up his refusals until Martinez threatened to call the cops. It was then that Nolasco reportedly admitted that he had been a dentist in Venezuela and Cuba, but was not licensed in Florida.

Martinez was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital's Emergency Room for treatment.

Miami police are asking anyone else who was treated by Nolasco to come forward.  He's been charged with unlicensed practice of health care, practicing medicine without a license and possession of a controlled substance.
