Panthers Marchand, Reinhart work celebratory "shifts" at South Florida fast food joints
A pair of Florida Panthers Stanley Cup champs thrilled fans as they serve up some South Florida favorites in person.
Right wing Sam Reinhart traded in his helmet for a headset and served fans during a celebratory "shift" at Raising Cane's in Tamarac at 5600 N. University Drive, just 15 minutes from Amerant Bank Arena. He said he and the rest of the players are just happy to be here.
"We're just happy go lucky guys and we're happy to be here and we're going to have a good time doing it," Reinhart said.
When asked if there was a chance for a three-peat, Reinhart said they're not even think about that now.
"Last year when we won we didn't think about a second one, we just enjoyed that one for a little bit and that's what we're doing now. We are certainly enjoying this one."
Hundreds of fans lined up early to get a chance to meet him.
"He's just an insane player and he seems like a really great guy," Parker Hancock said.
"He's going to sign my jersey today," Michelle Stein said.
During his "shift," Reinhart served up Box Combos from the front counter and drive-thru, and did a little work in the kitchen.
Meanwhile, teammate Brad Marchand traded his skates for ice cream scoops and gave fans a sweet reason to celebrate. At the Dairy Queen on Hiatus Road in Sunrise, Marchand served up free Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Blizzards, his personal favorite. In his honor, they were temporarily renamed "The Brad Blizzard" for the day.
Marchand and his teammates made it a tradition to visit DQ before key games, and the team went undefeated after every pre-game DQ visit.
