North Miami child airlifted to the hospital after falling from a 6th-story balcony, fire officials say

A child was airlifted to the hospital after a reported fall from a sixth-story balcony in North Miami.

This happened at an eight-floor apartment located at Northeast 146th Street and 18th Avenue at around 5 p.m. on Saturday afternoon.

The child was transported to the hospital by Miami-Dade Fire Rescue as a trauma alert, according to fire officials.

CBS News Miami cameras captured North Miami police at the scene in the evening. 

No word yet on the child's condition, although 911 audio from Miami-Dade police suggests the child was conscious and probably had injuries to his left hip.
