Jury Selection For Casey Anthony Trial Hits A Snag
CLEARWATER (CBS4) - A bit of set back in the jury selection process for the trial of Casey Anthony, the Orlando mother accused of killing her two-year old daughter Caylee in the summer of 2008.
On Tuesday Pinellas County Chief Judge Belvin Perry dismissed 50 potential jurors after they were heard discussing the case in the jury room.
A fresh pool of 50 potential jurors was brought in Wednesday morning. The judge said the delay, combined with extra rounds of questioning that still need to be done, could push jury selection into Saturday and possibly Monday.
The jury selection process is being held in Pinellas County because of the intense media coverage of Anthony's case in Orlando.
Anthony, 25, has pleaded not guilty to the charge of first degree murder; she maintains a baby sitter kidnapped Caylee.
The trial is scheduled to begin May 17.
Anthony could face the death penalty if convicted.
