SCOUTING: Here is definitely a prospect who flew under the radar for much of the spring - until college coaches started to watch him play. Then, things began to truly change for this impressive athlete who has played mostly receiver, but is also being looked at in the defensive secondary, where he turned heads. His recent offer from Southern Miss came after coaches had watched him perform this spring. Richards is an athlete who has the chance to be very special. His size, speed and overall athletic ability has made him very attractive to colleges of all sizes. This will really be a very important summer as camps and combines will provide a forum for colleges to continue evaluating. The thing that his coaching staff loves about him is his knack of getting open - and once he does - he is virtually impossible to bring down on the first hot. Richards is a very physical football player who should continue to pick up offers right thru until the season begins.
