Free, One Day Drop Off For Electronics & Household Waste
MIRAMAR (CBSMiami) – Broward residents who may have gotten a new TV or computer for Christmas and want to safely get rid of their old electronics can do so in Miramar this weekend.
Through a partnership between Broward County Solid Waste and Recycling Services and the City of Miramar there will be a free drop-off event on Sunday, January 8th, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. The event will take place at 15700 Pembroke Road (Silver Shores Park).
In addition to televisions, computers and most electronics, residents can bring and safely dispose of compact fluorescent lamps, fluorescent tubes, paint, solvents, motor oil, pesticides, household chemicals, lawn and pool chemicals, mercury thermometers, propane tanks and fire extinguishers.
Proof of Broward County residency, such as a driver's license or current utility bill, is required. Items that will not be accepted are stereos, microwaves, kitchen appliances, explosives and business-generated waste.
Those who can't make it to the event can always visit the county's permanent drop-off locations at 2780 N. Powerline Road in Pompano Beach and at 5601 W. Hallandale Beach Boulevard in West Park. Both locations are open every Friday and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and accept household hazardous waste and used electronics.
