Dolphin Jumps In Boat, Lands On Woman

MARCO ISLAND (CBS4) - A South Florida woman was injured Sunday afternoon when a dolphin jumped onto the deck of a charter boat cruising the Marco River on the state's west coast.

Isles of Capri Fire spokesman Keith Perry said around 2:45 p.m. they received a call from the boat's captain who said a 600 to 700 pound dolphin had leapt into his boat and landed on a woman. She was all right; she only suffered a sprained ankle.

Perry said to get dolphin off the boat they had to call in help from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission and the Collier County Sheriff's Office. Working together they tied a rope around its tail and then used an immobilizing board to slide it back into the water.
