FORT LAUDERDALE -- The driver of a Jeep was hurt after she lost control of her vehicle Monday and crashed into a Fort Lauderdale house being used as an Airbnb, authorities said.
The woman, who was not identified, was listed in serious condition and said to be in and out of consciousness following the crash into the home in the 2300 block of SW 36th Avenue.
Bill Crowley saw a neon-colored jeep flash by his home Monday morning. Next, he heard a loud crash... and boom.
When he came out of his home, he saw a sight hard to believe.
The driver had crashed her jeep straight through the house next door.
The commotion had started seconds earlier when fire rescue said the driver had left her home down the block, crashed through her neighbor's fence and damaged a work van.
She sped off, lost control of her jeep on a curve in the road and slammed into the house
The house is an Airbnb rental. The owner Jhonny Ahrma says tenants had left Sunday
"Thank God no one was inside. We will fix It up and continue," said Ahrma.
Police are piecing together the accident and will decide if the driver will be cited.
