University Student, 33, In Custody In Sexual Assaults On 2 Women In LA
LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — A 33-year-old man was in custody Friday on suspicion of sexually assaulting two women at his home.
According to the Los Angeles Police Department, Kai Andrew Bannon was taken into custody on Wednesday at his home in the 300 block of North Sierra Bonita.
Officers said they were serving a felony warrant that stemmed from two separate sexual assault cases they believe occurred at his home. One occurred this year, and the second took place in 2012, police said
The first victim met Bannon when she responded to an advertisement for a roommate, and the second victim met him through a mutual friend, police explained.
A third case is pending review by the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office.
On Thursday, he was arraigned and faced three felony counts of sexual assault including rape and sodomy, authorities said.
Bannon, originally from Oregon, is a student at a local university.
According to police, he was arrested on suspicion of rape in Massachusetts in 2010 but was found not guilty by trial.
Bannon is being held on $300,000 and will be scheduled for a preliminary hearing, police said.
Detectives said there may be additional victims and asked for the public's help to identify them.
