All Malibu schools will be closed again on Friday due to the hazardous driving conditions caused by a powerful rainstorm that swept through the region.

"While the heaviest rainfall is expected to subside early Friday morning, officials have advised that roads will remain unsafe for travel due to mudflows, rockslides, and debris," said a statement from the Santa Monica - Malibu Unified School District Superintendent Dr. Antonio Shelton.

Roads all over Los Angeles County were impacted by the powerful storm on Thursday, including Pacific Coast Highway, which was covered in inches of mud in some places after debris flows caused by the deluge of rain.

While all Malibu area schools will be closed, which includes Webster Elementary, Malibu Elementary, Malibu Middle and Malibu High, Santa Monica campuses are expected to remain open as usual.

"We recognize that school closures create challenges for families, and we appreciate your understanding as we continue prioritizing the safety of students and staff. School administrators and teachers will be reaching out to students and families with information on remote teaching and learning," the district statement said.

District officials previously announced on Wednesday that schools would be closed on Thursday because of the storm.
