The victims, a man and a woman, were reportedly approached by a pair of armed suspects who fired multiple shots at them after an argument. The man is said to be in critical condition.
According to police, the carjacking suspect shot the man after he refused to get out of his vehicle just before midnight on Tuesday.
The victims, a brother and sister, were both shot when an argument escalated into a shooting at around 2:40 a.m. The suspect, a woman, fled from the scene on foot.
Residents in Angelino heights said that the dangerous driving featured in the franchise encourages real-life street takeovers.
The alleged burglar is also a suspect in other robberies; one in Van Nuys and another in Mid-Wilshire.
The incident, which was captured on camera, shows the driver a Mini Cooper plowing into a moped rider at the intersection of 3rd and Flower Streets.
Officials with the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department told CBSLA that there was a minor delay in their response to the street takeover because of the large crowd.
