It happened at around 6:30 p.m. near the intersection of Collett Avenue and Stonewall Drive, according to the Riverside Police Department.
"I was just dropping off my friend because I'm the DUI tonight," the driver told police less than an hour into 2025.
Deputies say that the shooter called 911 to report having shot someone inside a home in the 32900 block of Josheroo Court at around 5 a.m.

The suspect, 44-year-old Menifee woman Olga Mendez, was booked on suspicion of kidnapping, assault with a deadly weapon, criminal threats and two unrelated warrants, according to deputies.
