New Cream 'Melts Away' Tattoos Without Pain

Been thinking about getting rid of of those old tattoos but don't want to burn a hole in your pocket? Well, a Halifax researcher by the name of Alec Falkenham has been developing an affordable, painless removal treatment just for you.

According to CBC News, this magical cream - which is applied like lotion - is supposed to "consume" tattoo ink and costs only four cents per square centimeter, which means a 10-by-10-centimeter tattoo would cost about $4.50 per treatment.

While you get a tattoo, ink is injected into the skin and cells called macrophages are filled with ink and then "embedded in the skin," making you an everlasting tat.

The cream works by bringing in new macrophages to eat up the ink-filled macrophages, and also moving into the lymph nodes to get ink that may have moved there as well.

Falkenham is currently unsure of how many treatments will be needed to completely remove a tattoo, but the product is currently being tested on pig's ears to figure that out.
