Vigil Held For Ebola Stricken Nurse

DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - More than 80 people came together at Munger Place Church for a prayer meeting for the second Dallas Ebola patient Monday night.

There were at least two nurses in the crowd who said they want to show strength for Nina Pham, 26.

"I think folks in East Dallas are afraid. It makes sense there are a lot of things to be fearful about this," one neighbor said. Another woman expressed her confidence that caretakers will help Pham get through her ordeal.

One nurse who Pham trained at Texas Health Presbyterian commented on her work ethic.

"Knowing Nina, she's one of the most meticulous, thorough, effective nurses. She taught me infection control, hand hygiene and protocol. I learned so much of that from her, we just don't know," said nurse Jennifer Joseph.

Pham, who is a 2010 graduate from Texas Christian University's nursing program in Fort Worth, wasn't able to pinpoint exactly how or when she contracted Ebola.

But in the absence of scientific knowledge, people who attended the vigil turned their power to prayer.

"It is a risk that we take and she took. I'm sure she's very selfless and I wish her the best for her recovery. It is just really tough right no," a 24-year-old nurse told CBS 11 News. "I don't fear it. I love what I do and so does Nina."
