Texas Woman Carries Daughter's Baby, Gives Birth To Grandchild

DALLAS (CBS 11 NEWS) - A 54-year-old North Texas grandmother has given birth to her own grandchild. The woman was a surrogate for her daughter and delivered a 6 pound 11 ounce girl at The Medical Center of Plano.

Tracey Thompson offered to carry her daughter, Kelley McKissack's, baby after the 28-year-old struggled with infertility for years. McKissack had undergone multiple infertility treatments and experienced three miscarriages.

The proud grandmother gave birth to her granddaughter just after 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January, 6. The little girl was given the name Kelcey, a combination of the names Tracey and Kelley.

Thompson said, "This is such a blessing that I can do this for my daughter."

A news conference with the family and doctors at the hospital is scheduled for 1 p.m.
