Pilot And Passenger Survive Small Plane Crash In Lancaster

LANCASTER (CBSDFW.COM) - The Federal Aviation Administration confirmed a single engine plane with two people on board crashed tonight in Lancaster. Both the pilot and passenger survived. The passenger was injured and taken to the hospital.

N849CD,  single-engine SR-22, clipped a power line 2 miles south of Lancaster, according to the FAA. Lancaster Fire said it was a  "high-power transmission" power line -- 380,000 volts -- and its occupants are "lucky to be alive."

The fire department is handling the grass fire caused by the crash and the road is blocked out near the rural stretch of land nearby.
