Highway Sign Falls Onto Northbound US Hwy 75 In Allen; TxDOT Investigating, Checking 'Similar Structures' In Area
ALLEN, Texas (CBSDFW.COM) - A highway sign and the pole it is connected to fell onto U.S. Highway 75 near Stacy Road on Friday afternoon, Feb. 18.
It happened shortly after 3:00 p.m.

All but one lane on the northbound side was blocked off until shortly before 4:30 p.m..
A TxDOT maintenance crew got the sign out of the roadway.
Traffic was backed up as a result.
There were no accidents and no injuries, according to the Allen Police Department.
Allen Police and TxDOT said it's not yet clear how this happened.
Shortly before 6:00 p.m., a TxDOT spokesperson told CBS 11, "We have removed the sign and our experts will be thoroughly checking all of the structure components to determine the exact cause, which could take some time. Safety is our number one priority and as a precaution we will also check other similar structures in the area for any potential issues."
