Search Continues For Plano Mom

PLANO (CBSDFW.COM) - More than a hundred friends and neighbors scattered across a Plano neighborhood searching for a missing mother of two.

Plano police say, 47-year-old Janice Klein was home with her 20 year old daughter at 1:30 p.m. Friday afternoon, when she commented she was going in the backyard.

When Klein's husband and son arrived two hours later, they realized she was gone.

"We expect that she's maybe disoriented and unsure of her surroundings and lost, is the best way to describe what we think," said Paul Harris, a family friend and spokesperson.
Police say, Klein had no known medical or mental condition, but had complained of recent headaches and stomach pains.

"There is nothing to lead us to believe that foul play is suspected," said Plano Police spokesperson, Officer Andrae Smith.

Smith says, police have investigated two possible sightings.

One about a mile from her home reported Saturday afternoon was quickly ruled out.

The other, at a Williams-Sonoma store five miles away seemed more likely.

"Took the flier in. The Williams-Sonoma manager immediately said, yes, we feel very confident she came in late yesterday afternoon.  Fits the time frame, fits the description. She described her very well," Harris said .

The manager reportedly claimed Klein did not buy anything, but appeared fine.
Police say there is no video evidence to confirm the sighting and that they are still trying to verify it.

Members of Klein's church and her son's Boy Scouts troop joined the organized search, going door to door, asking neighbors to check their backyards and spread the word.

Late Saturday afternoon, investigators brought a dog to the home, in an effort to sniff out her trail.

A Texas DPS chopper was making public announcements, broadcasting her description to people in the area.

Family friends are seeking more volunteer groups to join the effort and plan to search open green areas near Klein's home.

Sunday, volunteers from the general public can meet at Daffron Elementary starting at 8 a.m. They will be searching brush and water, so dress accordingly.

Equusearch should also be arriving Sunday.

A Facebook page has also been set up to help find Klein.

Plano Police have asked that anyone with information regarding Klein's disappearance call them at (972) 424-5678.
