OKLAHOMA CITY (CBSDFW.COM) - If Senate Bill 733 passes in Oklahoma, couples who apply for marriage licenses there may be denied if they have a STD. According to the proposed legislation, "The State Board of Health shall require a blood test for the discovery of syphilis and other communicable or infectious diseases prior to the issuance of a marriage license."
Furthermore, that information may be made public.
Attorney David Slane told News 9 in Oklahoma City, "This new law would require you to file with the court clerk the results of this test which the whole world could see." He continued, "It seems to me that would violate people's real privacy rights."
