Mosquito Battle Continues Across North Texas As Peak West Nile Season Arrives

DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - There's a big battle being fought in North Texas against mosquitoes as we reach peak season for West Nile Virus.
Tarrant County Health Director Vinny Teneja says 15 human cases of West Nile have been reported in the County.
County Judge Glen Whitney says aerial spraying for mosquitoes may go ahead, even though several cities say they don't want it, because of concerns about dangers to people, pets, and the environment.
In Denton County, Lewisville will be doing ground spraying for mosquitoes tonight. The city recently reported its first human case of West Nile for the year.

Denton County Chief Epidemiologist Juan Rodriguez says the number of human cases across the county is normal for this time of year.
Dallas County Health Director Zack Thompson reports more than two-dozen human cases of West Nile virus. He says County Commissioners have already approved aerial spraying.
Most of the Dallas County human infections have been the more dangerous West Nile neuroinvasive disease.
