DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - The newest elephant at the Dallas Zoo has a new name and the name was revealed in lights.

The zoo's new African elephant calf – the first one born in the U.S. in more than two years – is named Ajabu, which means "wonder," "amazing," and "extraordinary."

The calf was born May 14 to mom Mlilo, one of the five elephants that arrived to Dallas from Swaziland in March.

The zoo says Ajabu now weighs more than 220 pounds, up from 175 when he was born.

He isn't yet on exhibit; he remains in a behind-the-scenes habitat with his mother, Mlilo, and others in the zoo's 10-elephant herd.

No date has been set when he'll make his public debut.
